Everyone likes a mirror, while not knowing the true nature of his face. After all, how long does a reflection remain in view? Make a practice of contemplating the origin of the reflection. This cheek and mole go back to the source thereof.
~ Jelaluddin Rumi (1207-1273)

| Bubbles bursting |

If there has been anything that I learnt the past year, its has to be getting out of my clouds of idealism and getting real. There is something tricky about this...one tends to lose the careless enthusiasm and optimism for life and gains cynism and doubt. :?:
How do I not "lose it" and remain balanced?
I thought that at my age, I have already "arrived" at my station in life and pretty much have everything about it "figured out".
Pretty arrogant.
My trip to India has burst many many many bubbles for me. At first it was very hard for me to swallow. All these bitter revelations about mankind. I must sound so naive. What I didn't want to lose was my innocense and my belief in human goodness. My experiences in India, both good and bad has been the school of life for me. I would like to believe that I am still the same person, just a little more wiser and streetsmart.
I don't know now.
The time I spent in India and the memories from it is still too raw. Whatever it is, I know that I have shed the skin of ignorance and donned the veil of awareness.
I still believe in human goodness. That essentially people are good. I also learnt, first hand from experience, [not through reading or people] that there are wolves in sheep's clothings out there and that such beings are incorigible. So the lesson is, not to be cynical about everything or everyone I meet henceforth...but to be realistic and not expect to meet angels all the time.
I am thankful for having met angels only for most my life. I'm very lucky.
Man is like a bow held in the hand of God's Power. God employs him in various tasks. In reality, the agent is God, not the bow. The bow is an instrument and a means. But for the sake of the maintenance of the world it is unaware and heedless of God. Tremendous indeed is the bow that becomes aware of the Bowman's hand! ~Jelaluddin Rumi

Cooked lunch today. Made potatos and cauliflowers with masala, boiled egg in tomato puree masala and fried fish with rice. :o The first meal I prepared at my new home. I'm getting comfortable at the new flat now...slow, but getting there. :P Been listening to a lot of Hindi pop today. =http://www.apunkachoice.com/m...Meenaxi,a tale of 3 cities - A visual delight of a film that got banned in India a couple of days I caught it on screen. =http://www.mainhoonna.com/Main Hoon Na - A mindless entertaintment really. I enjoyed this one very much. =http://www.yuvathefilm.com/Yuva - I think I would much prefer the =http://www.nowrunning.com/com...Tamil version of the film. Havent seen the Tamil version yet. There are a couple of songs in here thats tolerable. =http://www.lakshyathefilm.com...Lakhsya - Didnt manage to catch this one, but love that grovey jazzy number that Prabudeva choreographed.

One of my favourite by Rumi...
Be a skillful cook – let the kettle boil slowly, For stew boiled in a great rush is of no use … Why is a child created over nine months? Because the King acts gradually. Why was Adam created over forty mornings? Because little by little, God was perfecting that clay. You foolish one, you are rushing ahead – Only a child, you make yourself out to be a sage … But where is the spiritual warfare ... and combat to sustain you?

...that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one who owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish everyday and be done with it. You have done what you could, some blunders and absurdites, no doubt crept in, Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day, begin in serenely, with too high a spirit to be crumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I know I keep saying this but I promise I will return with information! 10 “I think it was a funny time for people to take leave.” – Salma 9 “Like a oujia board, something strange is happening here.” - Lik 8 “Not enough people ask each other how they’re doing.” - Nadine 7 “You can’t really document goats.” – Andrea ~my favourite! 6 “You have choice if you have the courage to make a choice.” - Amelia 5 “I feel I’ve finally grown up. Almiraya means... The mirror
"Many of the faults you see in others, dear reader, are your own nature reflected in them. As the Prophet said, 'The faithful are mirrors to one another" Jelaluddin Rumi
